For those without a testimony, believe on the testimony of another until yours is strengthened. Every member of the Church is expected to have a personal assurance or testimony that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Such a testimony comes only by the spirit of revelation; and thus when shared with others in company with the Spirit by which it came it may have a very electrifying effect. Nevertheless, there are those who are specially gifted in the bearing of testimony, who, like the soloists in a great choir, thrill our souls and raise the level of our faith beyond that which others can do. In like manner, to some it has been given to testify with special power of the mission and ministry of the Prophet Joseph Smith, of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, or of some particular gospel principle in such a manner that it has a more powerful effect upon our souls than that which we normally experience when others bear like testimony.
