It worked!
Finally a way to remove ghost lines and the big I syndrome from occasional PDF's! While they don't usually print (zoom way in to see if they disappear - if they do, then they won't show up on a off-set press) but clients don't like to see them there - and sometimes you just need a pdf to look sharp as it is!
In Illustrator
Select Effect, and the Document Raster Effect. I changed it to High Resolution and make sure there are "0 inches" around the object.
Then in my PDF menu - select the advance menu and choose High Resolution.
If that doesn't work - decrease your raster effect resolution a bit.
