An interesting comparison was brought to light today in RS. When Jesus was atoning for our sins in Gethsemane, he left 2 apostles to watch with him. When He returned, he found them sleeping and asked the question that surely had left Him feeling so alone "... What, bcould ye not watch with me one hour?" (Matthew 26:40).
Have you never wondered - why? Why couldn't they just be more aware, more in tune, more on task, more devoted, more committed to their Savior at that time? Surely, knowing now what we know was to come.. we would all have waited with complete awareness, watching to protect our Lord.
But, each week we have the opportunity to remember the Savior through the sacrament - 10 minutes, not 1 hour is all that is requested. Do we, now that we have the opportunity, give even 1 minutes of complete attention to the sacrifice of the Savior, to His life, His teachings, and our path to become more like Him?
