Jesus groaned and wept after listening to Mary and Martha. Though general Christendom interprets Christ's weeping as grief, latter-day Saints see it differently.
"That doesn't make sense," Merrill said. "He knows what he's about to do . Why is Jesus weeping? Lack of belief. They believe He is the Christ, but do they have a clue what that means?"
During Christ's ministry, the Holy Ghost did not function in his fullness of power. It was not until after the Savior's death that people received his witness.
We have a huge advantage these people did not," he said. "We have the opportunity to receive the sure witness of the Holy Ghost."
