Keeping our eyes centered on Christ

I recently read the tragedy turned miracle of Lexi, and BYU student injured in a longboarding accident.  You can read about the the story HERE on her sister-in-law's blog.  Truly a miracle!

But, I was touched by the following:
"My mother-in-law has kept a picture of the Peter and the Savior next to Lexi's bed ever since the accident first happened. She had it there to remind her to keep her eyes on Christ continually. Whenever a doctor would come in and give her the depressing news of Lexi's prognosis, she would hold to that picture of Christ and it would help her to keep the faith and keep going in spite of what the doctors would say (they were just being realistic and did not want to instill false hope).

The picture depicted Jesus lifting Peter up out of the water after Peter had attempted to walk on water. When Peter's eyes were fixed on the Savior and his faith was perfect in Him, he was able to succeed and accomplish the miracle of walking on water. However when Peter lost sight of Jesus and his faith was shaken, he fell into the water. This parallels our faith and focus concerning Lexi. We need to have our eyes and hearts set on Jesus Christ and remember where that healing power is coming from and never cease praising and thanking God. "

She then concluded with this thought:
"God gives a trials so that we can learn to rely on Him and know that we cannot do it alone. And the Savior suffered for us and with us so that He would know how to succor us through these trials. This life is full of adversity and hardships that help us grow and will be for our good in the eternal life to come."

Wonderful words of wisdom!
