3 Nephi 11:13-15
After Christ's death, there was 3 hours earthquakes and destruction in the America's followed by 3 days of darkness. Following the darkness, the survivors, who had gathered at the temple, heard the voice of Heavenly Father, announcing His son, Jesus Christ, who descended from heaven among them. He spent some time with them, taught them and called apostles to lead them after he returned to heaven. But, one of the most significant things he did was to invite all of those present (the number is predicted to be 2500) to come, one by one and feel the nail wounds in his hands and feet. They did this, one by one, each had their own moment with their Savior.
The line was long. And if each person took 30 seconds only with the Savior, it would have taken over 20 hours!
What would it have been like to be in that line? Picture yourself standing in line with your loved ones. Destruction all around you.
Would you become, tired, hungry, impatient? Would you treat others differently if you were clear in the back, or middle, than if you were within the Savior's presence? How would you feel if you were the last one in line? Someone was!
In reality, we are all in line waiting to see the Savior again. The line is the straight and narrow path. Some, who have grown impatient with adversity, have lost faith and leave the path. They convince others to leave as well....forgetting who is at the end of the line!
What would cause you to leave the line? What do you do to remain firmly in your place?
Satan is doing everything he can to get you to leave the line. This same people experienced his efforts 33 years earlier.
Prophets had been proclaiming that a savior would be born. That a sign would be given, a day and a night and a day - as if there were no night - so that those in that continent would know he had been born. Many began to doubt the prophcies. But, they came to pass! Just as the prophets taught!
3 Nephi 1:20-22
But, even after such a great miracle, Satan began his work! In verse 22, we learn that immediately after the signs of the Svior's birth appeared in the skies he began the lies to get them to disbelieve what they had witnessed. Immediately. We must hold true to our beliefs and not let Satan's taunts drive us from what we know.
Like father who brings his disabled son to Christ to be healed...he says, Mark 9:24 " And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief."
There will always be things we don't fully know or understand. There will be things we haven't yet gained a testimony of. Likewise, there will be many things that we do know, that we have received confirmation of, that we do believe! Remember the wise counsel of Elder Uchtdorf "doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith!" Remember who it is who is trying so hard to have you do the opposite.
And, whatever you do....stay in line!
