Her adversary provoked her sore....

I remember one Sunday, sitting in church waiting for Sacrament Mtg to begin, and reading 1 Sam 1. My heart was sorrowing - so I related to Hannah & Peninnah, and the individual sorrows they were experiencing.

But, it was verse 6 that REALLY jumped out at me.

"And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret...."

Isn't that the truth!  Doesn't life just feel like the salt is being poured in the wound all the time? Could all of this be the adversary provoking us where it hurts the most?  He makes obvious each and every time someone else has received the blessing we so desire.  He constantly provokes those feelings that leave us feeling rejected by the God we love so much!
