Non Negotiables - The minimum you promise to every day

Reminds me of a Brooke Snow podcast about ceilings and floors - what is the bare minimum goal - something that keeps you tethered during a difficult time period

From a newsletter 8/10/*2024

If you don’t have a list of NON-NEGOTIABLES…

You could be missing out on one of your best tools for staying on track when you find your healthy habits slipping away.

Let’s say your schedule suddenly gets crazy.

So you grab a takeout meal (or two)… miss a workout… and sleep takes a back seat.

And before you know it, you feel back to square one.

Instead, your non-negotiables can protect you from that happening in the first place.

They’re something you stick to every day — NO MATTER WHAT.

Here are some examples of non-negotiables:

  • A daily walk, no matter the weather

  • 20-mins of exercise each day (could also be stretching on your rest days)

  • Eating protein at every meal

These work as an anchor to your self-care, your health, and your well-being.

Plus, they’re a reminder to yourself that YOU matter… and will help bring you back to center.

So, do you have non-negotiables? If you don’t, it’s time to think about creating some!

Here’s mine: I commit to jogging 1 mile or more for my cardio health, and I make sure to hit it every day! It motivates me to think about my activity level, and now that I have a pretty solid streak going, I don’t want to risk breaking it.

Shanell, I'm committed to your success,
